It was a stunning day to day. Starting temperatures were below 60. The high was 72. Winds were light. We did climb 9000 feet. But it was absolutely gorgeous and worth the effort. I was one of the last to finish today.
We climbed from Wickenburg Arizona an elevation of 2000 feet to Mingus pass an elevation of 7000 feet. The climbing is very different than California climbs. It is much more gradual incline than Mt. Diablo or Mt. Hamilton
It was broken into three climbs off about 3000 a piece. I kept my effort under control and my heart rate below 130 most of the time.
Mike Monk the tour coordinator rode with me for several miles. Mike says that on paper this was the hardest day of the ride. It is amazing what a difference good weather can make
I was very pleased with myself getting through today's climbs in the views from the top of me were gorgeous. We are now in Cottonwood Arizona. We depart for Winslow tomorrow. We have about 4200 feet of climbing tomorrow.
Boo thanks for taking pictures. I love seeing your cute face. I am so happy it was a nice day. Soak those legs and remember I am with you in spirit. love sandy
